    Tip 1

Turf Mowing

Green lawns are happy lawns

At Premier Grounds we understand that our clients’ needs and property sizes might differ but the reliability and quality given to each property shouldn’t.

That is why with each new or existing client we build a customized plan to accommodate each’s properties unique needs. Our team of professionals have been extensively trained to provide the highest quality service and proper mowing techniques to keep you lawn lush and green throughout the season and the many weather changes.

This training includes but is not limited to:

Proper Height of your Lawn

We know the proper height for your lawn. We keep it long enough so it can absorb water, making it easier to care for in the hot summer months, and we make sure it’s not too short so weeds don’t take over. It’s difficult to keep the lawn at its proper height, but our experts have the knowledge and the experience to keep it looking perfect.

Cross Cutting

Mowing in the same direction each time that the lawn is mowed will create havoc with the lawn and coerce the grass to grow the wrong way. Mowing the same way each time puts stress upon the grass and should therefore be switched each time that the lawn is mowed.

Drought Procedures

A lawn going through a drought is stressed. A drought is one of those times when it’s best to just not do anything to your lawn. Mow as little as possible. Mow the grass on higher setting. The added leaf blade tissue aids in storing water and photosynthesis. Don’t fertilize, don’t aerate, de-thatch, or top dress. Do not do anything to bring added stress to the plant, including aggressive lawn activities and foot traffic.

Turf Mowing Guidelines

Here at Premier Grounds we like to know that we are on the same page as our Customers’ expectations so we have put together a list of FAQ to make sure there are no confusions to your service program.

Locked Gates:

We must have access to your complete lawn in order to provide you with complete service, a simple combination lock placed on any gates allows us access throughout the mowing season.

Pets

Please secure your pets on mowing day, if your pet is not secure we will make every attempt to ensure the safety of your pet throughout the duration of your mowing services and we will take every precaution to make sure your pet doesn’t escape, however we cannot be responsible for pets that do escape.

Yard Obstacles:

As much as we inspect a yard prior to running any equipment, toys and other items can be missed and destroyed by our mowers. We want to avoid this at all cost, we not only destroyed your pets favorite chew toy it can be detrimental to our equipment and personnel safety. So please, prior to your scheduled mowing day be sure that your lawn is clean of toys (pets or kids), hidden obstacles such as watering hoses, and anything that could be damaged. Thank you for your cooperation.

Rain Delay:

As an outdoor service company inclement weather affects our ability to provide most services, if we are unable to work due to the weather we will adjust our schedule accordingly, we always reschedule rain delayed work first and then resume normal schedule.

*Please be aware that inclement weather at the beginning of the week could affect the entire week’s schedule.*

Drought:

Droughts have a major effect on mowing procedure throughout the season, once a region has entered a dry spell, we move our mowing clients to a 2-Week mowing schedule for the duration and resume your normal frequency as the rain and grass growth return to normalcy.

Ongoing Home Projects:

We don’t want to interfere with any of your other projects whether it’s a home improvement project or resealing the driveway, we will do our best to provide our services with least amount of interference’s. We do ask though if you could please contact our office and notify us of any scheduled projects that could interfere with our services so we can adjust according throughout the duration of the project.

Special Events / Holidays:

We understand that your specific mowing schedule doesn’t always line up with that summer get together or birthday party but you still want your lawn and landscape to look pristine for it, with proper notice (14 Days Min.) and planning we can do our best to accommodate your personal needs. Weather can always be a factor in any rescheduling of services and major changes is regular service days cannot always be performed but it doesn’t hurt to ask and we don’t mind giving it our best to meet your special event or holiday needs.

To better serve our clients we have designed a 3 Tier Optional Program based on your property’s needs.

    Tip 1

Turf Management

Premier Grounds offers much more than Turf Mowing because we know that a healthy lawn goes much deeper than a well cut lawn.

Aerating – Core aeration is the process of mechanically removing small plugs of thatch and soil from the lawn to improve natural soil aeration.

Core aeration can help make your lawn healthier and reduce its maintenance requirements through these means:

  • Improved air exchange between the soil and atmosphere.
    Enhanced soil water uptake
  • Improved fertilizer uptake and use
  • Reduced water runoff
  • Stronger root system

  • Reduced soil compaction
  • Enhanced heat and drought stress tolerance
  • Improved resiliency and cushioning
  • Enhanced that breakdown

Over seeding

Over seeding is the practice of planting more grass in an already existing lawn so as to enhance the amounts of grass over the lawn.

Benefits of over seeding include the following:

  • Provides disease resistant grass – Through sowing more seed into your grass, you strengthen their tolerance against diseases.
  • Revitalizes grass growth – Many people normally assume that all they require for keeping their lawns weed free and thick is regular fertilizer application. However, similar to other living plants, grass plants also get tired. Over seeding offers a method of revitalizing the growth of these grass plants. It basically compensates for the natural and slow reproduction process of the lawn.
  • Denser Lawn – Over seeding lawns makes them appear denser and greener. As the recently introduced grass plants germinate and grow, they fill in the bare spots and bare areas of the turf.
  • Discourages weed growth – Through filling in the bare spots present on the turf, overseeing helps discourage the growth of weeds. It also suppresses any present weeds through guarding them from utilizing the soil nutrients, which leads to elimination of weeds. This lowers the content of pesticides required for lawn maintenance.

Soil Analysis - The Best Management Practice

Over seeding is the practice of planting more grass in an already existing lawn so as to enhance the amounts of grass over the lawn.

Benefits of over seeding include the following:

  • Increases productivity by identifying soil nutrients or soil chemical factors that are limiting plant growth.
  • Increases fertilizer use efficiency by indicating appropriate rates for different soils and crops.
  • Protects the environment by reducing over fertilization.
    Identifies polluted or contaminated soils.
